Column #490 January 17, 2025
This coming Monday we’re turning the page . . . BACK. That’s right . . . BACK. Our country is 248 years old. It has a rich history which includes amazing successes and really stupid mistakes. There are millions of stories involving families, neighbors, businesses, sports, wars, and politics from which we can draw from. Therefore, we really don’t need to look forward for guidance. All we have to do is just examine what was behind the successes of the past and stay with them.
Obviously, for some Americans, having old-fashioned values that were successful is nonsense. We must be progressive like telephones or airplanes and such. But I think that if history has shown us anything it’s that only our tools and toys are progressive. People are the same today as they were from day one. That’s why the Bible is such an important book. Its history goes back more than 6,000 years.1
Donald Trump will be sworn in as our country’s 47th president this Monday. He is quite the practical businessman who is loaded with imagination. He prides himself on solving problems and making things happen. He became a successful businessman by repeating his successes and not repeating his mistakes. During his first presidential term he did solve many problems. But he got caught up in making some errors such as trusting old government department heads like Fauci and others. He even had some deep state types in his cabinet and old congressional leaders did what they could to hamstring his efforts.
Obviously, with his new slate of prospective cabinet members, many of whom are not politicians or bureaucrats, Trump is not trusting traditional government types with long records of service. For the most part it’s a very new team he’s bringing in with him. They are Trump loyalists that despise deep staters, woke democratic idealists, and RINOs. They are mostly old school with strong backgrounds in history and an understanding of the successful policies of the past. Some are extraordinary businessmen.
But that doesn’t mean Trump’s second term will be a walk in the park. For starters, our country has been managed by a rather long list of losers such as Wilson, Roosevelt, Nixon, Carter, the Bushes, Obama, and the worst president of all time—Biden. For decades politicians marched to Washington for power and cash. Will Trump have enough sway to stand down the old crusty politicians? And most of all, will he have enough political power to manage the government’s entrenched Washington D.C workforce where only 6.5% voted for Trump in 2024?2
For more than 150 years our Federal government has fought against many of the nation’s founding principles the Founding Fathers put in place to create a lasting republic. Particularly they wanted total freedom so they strived to change the gold standard, voting rights, the Bill of Rights, central bank, the Constitution, Supreme Court, Electoral College, and so many things that created a structure for success. All that because they wanted to be progressive.
Biden’s goal was to change America big time. Since Obama/Biden’s lawfare against Trump did not work, they dug him a huge hole to deal with if he won the election. Biden increased the debt to the point where there is almost no way to reduce it. He has lied more than any leader that I’m aware of. He compromised his motives before he was president by accepting bribes from our adversaries. He messed up foreign policy by showing levels of weakness that invited confrontations and failures. He opened our borders at great cost to all Americans and let in dangerous adversaries that must be found and removed. He’s gone to great lengths to debase the dollar, weaken our military, and corrupt the moral fiber of the citizens. He has dictated limitations on citizen rights to degrees never before experienced by Americans—and that’s a short list of his failings.
Consequently, Trump’s job is cut out for him in righting this sinking ship. A return to basic principles that over time will yield positive returns means that many woke citizens will have to change their ways. Nearly 50% of all Americans voted for Harris. Many of them do not realize the sacrifices they will have to make in order to be team players and remain free. Many are actually wishing all of Trump’s plans will have teething problems. That way they can shout from the rooftops that reverting to more conservative policies is so stupid that, to save the nation, Trump must be removed from office and woke policies reinstated.
The administrative state declared war on Trump before 2016. Now Trump has returned to office with a far greater understanding of what he is up against. He is out to battle the deep state and his official portrait sends the statement: “Don’t mess with Trump.”
The current dictatorial administrative state is so entrenched and self-serving they think that patriots are the enemy. Consequently, in the immediate future the war against the people is going to reach a fever pitch we can’t imagine today. Every good policy Trump demands will be countered with a level of wokeism that will blow our minds. So it’s up to the people to have the courage and fortitude to forge ahead and recruit additional supporters. It’s our last chance to restore American greatness.3
God Bless America and give her citizens the strength to endure change.
To your health.
